Screen Recording on Mac

Screen recording on Mac is not too difficult to setup, but it is important to be careful when choosing an app because many provide less then optimal results.

I did my own research and came up with iShowU as being the best option for the price.

Here are the options I was choosing from:

Copernicus 1.5.2

At first I was templted by the fact that it is a free app but the frame rate turned out to be so bad that I gave up immediately after trying it.

Captureit

Here we enter the $15 price range.

The site where I first came across this application claimed it is fast and easy to use so I decided to give it a try.

It uses big flashy icons in it's interface which are rather annoying. As far as I could see it does not have option to select screen area to record. It is also the only app I know that requires video to be encoded after the recording is done and that takes a lot of time. WTF?

ScreenRecord

Another option for $15 a piece, this one actually works quite well.

At least, the interface is pretty straightforward and the video output is smooth enough. The picture was not very crisp, but I image that can be fixed by tweaking the settings a little bit. The only annoyance was that I had to actually run the installer to start using it as opposed by simply dropping it into the Applications folder. Small detail, but one of the reasons I prefer Mac to Windows.

iShowU

Great set of options, very easy-to-use interface. Is it worth $30? Most definitely.

Snapz Pro X, ScreenFlow

I did not get to try these out because I am not ready to fork out $69 or $99 bucks respectively for these apps, but may be someone will need the features they have to offer.

HelloYoga.com Promo Shooting: Day 1

First day of shooting for the promo video for HelloYoga.com. Soft light produced by cloudy weather was just right and results came out to be very nice. We also did some interview shooting with Dylan in the second half of the day.
